The ACTS Group started as ACTS Institute in July 1979 in Bangalore, India. (ACTS is an acronym for Agriculture, Crafts, Trades and Studies). Starting small, it has today spread all over the country with numerous institutions and is now known internationally for its innovative initiatives.

Motivated by the Christian doctrine of compassion and commitment to people the services of ACTS extend to all regardless of caste or creed.

The ACTS Group of Institutions is engaged in educational, environmental and health programmes through:

ACTS has links with universities in India and abroad, affiliated to the International Council for Higher Education, International Council for Open and Distance Education, Asia Theological Association & the International Ecological Engineering Society.

ACTS has been assisted through grants from AUSAID, CIDA, EU, VASS and other government and private agencies.

ACTS Group is an affiliated member of the International Needs Council.

COLLABORATIONS

Some collaborative programmes are as follows:

  • Partnered in a practical study programme - Certificate in Health and environment - with the Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi
  • Collaborated with Bangalore University in an International Conference on Water Management
  • Partnered with Kalyani University in developing a Post Graduate Diploma in Waste Management
  • Partners in the Centre for Religious Studies in Andhra University through which Masters & Ph.D programmes are offered
  • Forging links with Dravidian University for Post graduate programmes
  • Conducted joint programmes with University of Life Sciences in Norway
  • Linkoping University in Sweden, Columbia International University, USA
  • Developing a Teacher Education programme for Meghalaya along with Judson University, USA
